Z3950 problems with fresh install of Koha 2.0.0RC3

Hello, I'm new to this and trying to set up for a very small private library. I can't seem to get the Z3950 daemon to function. fedora core installation and missing stuff

Hi Group, I've just installed Koha-2.0.0RC3 and I am impressed... Fedora Core missed all the modules required by Koha but they could easily be added via rpms available at sourceforge and from www.indexdata.dk/yaz. The only thingy that I needed to add from cpan.org was the perl-HTML::Tree module which is requred by the translator script v.2.0. It was available there in version 3.18 or so. Now a question: could anyone give me a hint how to launch tmpl_process PROPERLY so I get a UASABLE (sutable for translation) file: opac.pl_PL? Usable meaning without all the fuss of type: bgcolor="#ffffcc"> *****. I am confused about --exlude, LIMITED, and IGNORE flags. It should be obvious that such an extraction of strings from the english version is all the same for every other language... Thanks, Benedict

Cancel the previous note. The fix necessary was in Install.pm, not in koha.upgrade. Sorry about that, Tom Madron The koha.upgrade script still generates the message noted below. The koha tarball that I downloaded today (2/4/2004) did not have the ($) and appeared to be correct. Any further suggestions? Problem upgrading to Koha 2.0.0RC3

Hello all, I decide to upgrade my testing Koha install to 2.0.0RC3 tonight but I am having a problem. I am currently on 2.0.0RC1. When I try to tun the koha-upgrade script I get the following error: [root@localhost koha-2.0.0RC3]# ./koha.upgrade Not enough arguments for Install::getkohaversion at ./koha.upgrade line 17, near "() " Execution of ./koha.upgrade aborted due to compilation errors. Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong? I am running Mandrake 9.2 and Perl 5.8.1. Ed C.

As stated yesterday, I've released a 2.0.0RC3 version of Koha. This version is mostly interesting for french users. Other may wait until 2.0.0RC4 (or 2.0.0 final ?) I wanted to give everyone a feel for where we're at with bugs and releases (although, Paul is the definitive voice for when a release will actually get made). I've tried to collect all of our critical or major bug reports -- we've already handled all the blockers. If anyone sees wants to claim one of these tickets for their own, please ask the listed owner. Critical bugs first, we need to get these stomped (or agree that they're really not critical after all) before we release 2.0.0 final. Changing member searching

Chris and I talked about member searching the other day on IRC, prompted by the fact that member searching in the current release doesn't work like it used to: A search for 'leonard, o' will return no results. You have to leave out the comma for it to work. Other problems exist in both the current version and in older versions: a search for the last name 'van dyke' will return no results, but a search for 'van' will bring up results which include the name 'van dyke.' Chris and I tried some changes to Search.pm which improved results in searches for names with spaces in the last name, but the requirement was that the comma had to be included. So whereas before a search for 'leonard o' would return the record for Owen Leonard, now you'd have to search for 'leonard, o'. At our library that requirement is perfectly acceptable--it's the way we're used to searching anyway. What is the function of the "itemnumber" field in the "items" table in Koha? Where does it come from? How is it used? In the MARC/Koha cross reference document on http://www.koha.org/wiki (which I realize is woefully out of date) the "itemnumber" field references MARC tag 890, subfield "c", which, as far as I can tell is not used elsewhere in Koha. In fact, neither MARC21 nor UNIMARC define tag 890 at all (see http://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/ and http://www.ifla.org/VI/3/p1996-1/sec-uni.htm for tag definitions under MARC21 and UNIMARC, respectively). I have tried to put together a cross reference spreadsheet based not only on the cross reference document noted above, but also by reference to fields defined in Koha. Any information I can get on this or related questions will be appreciated.
