Patron record "contact note"

My library is finally beginning the process of migrating from dev_week to Koha 3. I've noticed something that didn't catch my eye when working with the sample data. In 2.x, the alternate contact section of the member record had a notes field, "altnotes." In Koha 3 there is no longer a notes field associated with "Alternate Contact," but there is now a "contactnote" field associated with the "Alternate address" section. Is this deliberate? My library currently uses the "altnotes" field to record information about the relationship of the alternate contact to the patron. If it were up to me I would simply move the "Contact note" form field into the section labelled "Alternate Contact" and be done with it. -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org

Good day, all. Their was a service interruption for bugs.koha.org, koha.org, download.koha.org, etc earlier today. This was result of either some sort of web crawler gone terribly awry or, more likely, a malicious DoS attack. Apparently, some people apparently don't appreciate free software. Not related to this incident, but to use it as an opportunity to give a heads-up about what's coming down the pike, in the near future we will be moving the web service for these sites onto another host. configuration files for Debian packaging 2/3 (reconfiguration)

Hi, As I've a few free time, I'm trying to complete a first version of Debian Koha packaging. I've a few questions for koha/zebra/.. guru that I separate in 3 mails. Here is the second mail. I would like koha users to be able to do 'dpkg-reconfigure koha' to modify most of the config. However, I've some question about the switches. I know how to configure apache, so I have no question about koha-httpd.conf. If we want to switch from a koha with zebra to a koha without zebra: - is it possible? - what must be done? (in addition to change config files) If we want to switch from a koha without zebra to a koha with zebra: - is it possible? - what must be done? (in addition to change config files) If we want to enable the SRU server on a koha with zebra: - is it possible? - what must be done? (in addition to change config files) (only restart zebrasrv?) If we want to disable the SRU server on a koha with zebra: - is it possible? - what must be done? (in addition to change config files) (only restart zebrasrv?) If we want to enable the PAZPAR2 server on a koha with zebra: - is it possible? - what must be done? (in addition to change config files) (only restart zebrasrv and start pazpar2?) If we want to disable the PAZPAR2 server on a koha with zebra: - is it possible? - what must be done? (in addition to change config files) (only restart zebrasrv and stop pazpar2?) Patron cards

Hi, we are working with patron cards and we need new features. Timeline for 3.0.1

Hi, As Release Maintainer, I have been given gitosis access to rel3.0 So I shall be able to catchup with all the bug fixes patches. What I am aiming at now is issuing a bug fix release on First week of December. That means, branching 3.0.1 on the 15th November, so that translators could have a two weeks time for translations. Tell me if this sounds reasonable and ok for you (translators). You will also need to have the fresher templates. Maybe the Translation manager could have the process update automatically translations and allow ppl for multiple version access ? See you soon. -- Henri-Damien LAURENT

What about the Google Books Jackets API? Does that work okay with 13 digit isbns? (Oh, and on this, I've got a patch lying around somewhere to combine Amazon and Google Jackets in the OPAC so that only one picture is shown - the Google picture if there is one, the amazon picture [including the "no image" picture] otherwise. bulkmarcimport and jacket cover images

Is it possible to 'import' the cover images with the bulkmarcimport utility? The cover image shows 100% with z39.50 import. I will appreciate more info on how this meganism works? Thanks!

RFC: New System Preference to Determine which 'Types' and associated icons to display in advanced Search

Hi all, It seems like every library has a different definition of what they want to display as 'Type' limits in the advanced search area. The API is currently flexible to support any defined indexes, but customizing this beyond the default itemtypes currently requires editing of the advsearch.tmpl templates -- not horrible, but still kinda annoying. I propose a new syspref that allows the user to specify either 'itemtypes' (default) or any codes from authorised_values to be the limits in place of itemtypes (so for example, ccode). This would allow every library to define their own authorised-values, and then use those as search limits in advsearch.tmpl, without any template modifications. It's a fairly trivial addition, and if we default to itemtypes, won't affect any existing Koha installations. Thoughts? Two Koha intranets

Hi I am wondering if it possible to have two Koha Intranets running at the same time on different computers as we have two cataloguers needing to catalogue at the same time. Also, can anyone point me to any information regarding getting your Koha LMS available via the Internet?
