Hi All Is it possible to point Koha to a not local database host? With other words is there a way to run mysql on a seperate server than the Koha server? Thanks for any suggestions

Updating perl modules

I am wondering how others who manage their own Koha installations deal with updating Perl modules. Do you do updates on a regular schedule? Dear All, Please help me to solve the below problems I am new for koha and I am running koha 2.9 on windows xp PC. I have the following problems... 1.I am able to get the members form but I can not save member information , is there anything I need to configure on the database? 2. I could not download MARC21 records from the internet ? Is there anything I need to configure on the proxy server OR is any website that would help me to sort out the problem Thanks

Installing on disconnected box

Hello, i am trying to help someone who has no internet access to setup and run Koha on a fresh box. i break the install process into four major pre-requisites: Installing the OS, Apache, and MySQL, and lastly, getting the Perl modules While we managed the first three relatively easily, its the fourth one (Perl modules) that i need help with. One ("brute force"?) approach i thought i'd try is to just copy over the contents of the Perl paths that contain the modules from my own running install of Koha. (The modules are at /usr/lib/perl5 and /usr/local/lib/perl5). If the OS and everything else is pretty similar, there is some chance this will work, given that the modules were compiled for a similar architecture (an x86 PC)? i haven't tried this yet, but before i do, i am sure there are better ways to do this. For e.g., cpan still has the sources for all the modules i fetched at /root/.cpan/sources Perhaps, i can compile and install cpan on the new box, copy over the sources, and give CPAN a "local file url" (like file://...?) to go look for stuff? Or is it possible to (temporarily and relatively easily) create a CPAN mirror on a box on the local network? Otherwise there are perhaps just too many modules and dependencies required to satisfy them to try and do this one at a time. Also, i hear there's a way to get a "tarball" of modules for specific needs, has someone tried doing one for Koha? Or can i create one from what i already have? Table Notifys

Hi, I have seen a table called "notitys". I understand you use it for save the notifications, and later, the cronjob sends a email to user. It's ok, but... What is "notifys" saving? I'm working with suggestions module and I need to make a utility that sends emails to user when his suggestions are accepted o rejected. My option is to use the same cronjob or similar, but first I need this information. Any idea? Thanks

Problem with module CGI

Hello everyone, Actually, I'm in a developer group and we are trying to implement new features. Therefore, we need to replicate our job in other machine and when we have done, we have seen the following error: |Can't locate object method "generate_id" via package "CGI::Session::ID::md5" (perhaps you forgot to load "CGI::Session::ID::md5"?) at /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8/CGI/Session.pm line 74. | Apache Server version: Apache/2.2.8 (Ubuntu) Server built: Jun 25 2008 13:54:13 Koha 3.00.00.107 Koha DB 3.0000107 MySQL mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.51a, for debian-linux-gnu (i486) using readline 5.2 OS Linux atlantis 2.6.24-19-server #1 SMP Wed Jun 18 15:18:00 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux Perl 5.008008 I think -and I sure- that the problem there isn't in our code because, in fact, it's a perl error -maybe a bug in CGI, I don't know-. By other way, when we have installed Koha the first time we didn't have errors. Could anyone help us? Thanks in advance

List of holds

Hello again. I want to know if there is any place where I can see which items are reserved (from the table reserves). I thought it would be "view_holdsqueue.pl" but it list the table "tmp_holdsqueue", but I don't know what it is for. I suppose there must be a place to see all the items that are reserved, and not going borrower to borrower watching what they have "on hold". I want to cancel the holds made by borrowers, but I'm not sure if I must do it because it's not done or is there any place done.

Hi, My first patch has been accepted and pushed to HEAD, i must rewrite a bit this mail which was in my drafts. As Paul announced some days ago, I'm new in the Biblibre team since the October, 6th. I work on user's bug reports, and must fix their problems. On each problem that come from koha, i'll send a patch. I'll assume you have the circulation and fines rules setup already for overdue fines. Also it sounds like you have Koha version 3, so I'll assume you do. Setting finesMode to "production" is the first step. The next is to make a cron job to run the script "fines.pl" once a day. There is an example cron file included with koha. In the source tree it's misc/cronjobs/crontab.example. In the install tree it's bin/cronjobs/crontab.example. This file is an example for the setup of a scheduled process on a unix style system ( like Linux ). Edit this file to suite your need. A few things to watch out for: For me to get this to work I had to run each process as "root" instead of "koha", on each line I replaced '$KOHA_USER' with 'root' The lines near the top, PERL5LIB, KOHA_CONF, and KOHA_CRON_PATH need to be set to match your install. On the line for fines, you may need to change 'longoverdue.pl' to 'fines.pl' or 'fines2.pl' depending on which version of Koha 3 you have. If you see 'fines.pl' in the bin/cronjobs folder then that is the one to use. Once this is edited to your needs copy or link it to the /etc/cron.d directory. You may have to touch the /etc/crontab file before cron will realize it's there. Once you have the cron job running properly your overdue fines show up the next day. You can watch the system log to see if cron complains about anything while reading the file. Mine now is complaining that the wrong users owns the crontab file. Good luck. hourly circulation policies

Hello Daniel (& koha-dev), I'm reading your RFCs abour hourly circulation policies. and I have a question about them. Here in France, a common situation is the following : the students can issue ON SITE (in the library) some books (say 10), for the day. If they are happy with the book, they can take it at home, and, thus, make a "classic" issue. Thus, I was wondering wether your proposal can handle that. I don't think yes, but maybe i've misread something... If I'm not misreading, isn't it something that could be interesting for US libraries ? isn't it a common feature for what we call in France "conservation libraries".
