Hello, Now that Koha 3.6 is out, is it possible to copy the fr-FR translation files into fr-CA in translate.koha-community.org ? We would like to add French-Canadian specific modifications to the translations without affecting the fr-FR version. The old fr-CA po files can be overwritten, since they've been out of date since around version 3.2 . Thank you. Frédérick Capovilla --- Libéo

Strings Freeze and off-line translation

Some of you, translators, are translating off-line. It means you work with this workflow: - You download .po files from Pootle - You translate off-line - You upload your local .po files You have to be very careful and you must avoid keeping you .po files locally for a long time. Otherwise your medications could be lost at strings freeze. When the RM, Chris Nighswonger, announces Strings Freeze: 1) I download all .po files from Pootle 2) I process all files to add new strings to be translated 3) I upload all files to Pootle When Strings Freeze is announced, you MUST upload your .po files to Pootle. You should even anticipate Strings Freeze and upload your local .po files few days before. If you don't do that, you won't have new strings OR you will loose your modifications. 3.4.x String Freeze and Road Map Update

As of 0016 UTC, the 3.4.x branch is in string freeze. Only patches not affecting strings and critical and blocker bugfixes will be pushed. My plans are to release 3.4.6 on 1 November 2011, and to move all subsequent 3.4.x releases to the first of the month. 3.4.7 will release 1 December 2011, and then I plan to move to a bi-monthly release schedule for the 3.4.x branch as long as there are applicable commits. After the release of 3.4.12 (or if several months pass with no applicable commits submitted) I will enter a motion to EOL the 3.4.x branch at the next nearest monthly IRC meeting. If you have any comments/suggestions/critiques of this road map, feel free to respond to this thread with them. Also, if you see something in master which I have missed or know of a 3.4.x patch in bugzilla missed, please feel free to point it out. I'll be glad to catch it in the next release. freenode #koha and #koha-news

By way of announcement, the Koha Community has secured control of the #koha namespace on freenode. #koha will serve as a backup for our main #koha channel on OFTC. Folks coming in channel there will receive a message pointing them to the main channel. #koha-news is simply that, a channel for posting Koha related news. huginn will automatically post any items on the blog feed of www.k-c.org. Feel free to post any other Koha related news there as well. This replaces the historic #kohanews channel which will go away at some unknown point when freenode begins enforcing their new namespace policy. String freeze for 3.6.0

Ok whanau We have hit string freeze, what this means is now any patches that change strings have to be considered quite heavily, because it will make it harder for the translators. Frédéric if you could make the .po files for 3.6 that would be execllent. Now, what is my plan from here, patches that are in signed off state, that don't touch templates, can still go in provided the pass QA. Ones that do change templates, if they are criticals or blockers, they will still go in. Features: My inclination is push any features that are signed off now, or were submitted for sign off before the feature freeze, and that pass qa. My theory for this is, if they miss translation, that can be fixed by 3.6.1 which is only a month later. If they miss going into 3.6.0 they need to wait for 3.8.0 which is 6 months.
