If you have any language specific or MARC variant specific Koha frameworks for sharing so that others may benefit from your frameworks in forthcoming Koha 3.0, the frameworks export script is now ready for multiple operating systems. Obtain the latest version of the Koha 2.2.X MARC Frameworks Export Script for your operating system. The export script should function from any system with mysqldump and access to the database as the Koha user given in koha.conf . The only essential requirement is having mysqldump included in the system $PATH when running the script. [A possible later version may allow specifying the path to mysqldump as a user option if someone thinks that is needed.] Koha does not need to be installed on the system running the script nor does it even need Perl. 1. A diff based model at least should be created for future. At present simply adapt the most current copy of the frameworks in SQL format for your language. I recommend carefully editing the most current Koha frameworks as SQL files using a text editor designed for editing source code such as vim. Using the frameworks editor inside Koha is suitable for small changes but it is too slow and has too many bugs to be really suitable for translation work. Whether you are translating current MARC 21 into Norwegian or adapting it for the similar NORMARC, you should start with the most recent version of the Koha MARC 21 bibliographic framework, http://git.koha.org/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=Koha;a=blob;f=installer/data/mysql… . Use the NORMARC documentation whether you are translating the current version of MARC 21 or adapting for NORMARC, http://www.nb.no/fag/kompetansesenter/kunnskapsorganisering/dnk . Also, I would personally be interested in a formal English translation of the relatively few NORMARC elements which do not match MARC 21 elements. If you provide a translation, provision will be made for placing it, even if a similar translation exists already. At this point, as Koha 3.0 is being finished for release, translating Koha 3.0 would be likely to be much more useful than translating Koha 2.2.X. Furthermore, Koha 3.0 has no Portuguese translation at all. See the instructions for using the Koha git repository, http://wiki.koha.org/doku.php?id=en:development:git_usage . Do you use MARC 21 in a language other than English? Do you use UNIMARC in a language other than French or English? Do you use a MARC variant other than MARC 21 or UNIMARC? If you have any language specific or MARC variant specific Koha frameworks for sharing, please contact me on or off the list. LibLime has asked me to prepare whatever MARC frameworks I can obtain for use in the forthcoming version of Koha 3.0. Share yours so that others do not need to do redundant work. [MARC frameworks are either bibliographic or authorities frameworks and go by various names in Koha depending upon how you access them. In the system administration intranet interface, they are identified as Biblio framework (MARC structure) for bibliographic frameworks or Thesaurus structure for authorities. Hi... Im from Brazil, and since portuguese from Portugal isnt the same thing we speak here, I think that the Koha Team should add "Portuguese (BR)" in the list for translation. Hungarian translation of the Intranet

La nostra biblioteca, dopo un attendo studio di fattibilità, ha deciso l’adozione di Koha quale ISGB per il proprio catalogo. Purtroppo le traduzioni in linea (files ---default_it_IT.po) sono state effettuate da un non-bibliotecario e risentono moltissimo della carenza. Abbiamo così deciso di realizzare la traduzione più consona sia per l’opac che per l’intranet. E’ possibile vederne l’installazione opac: http://biblio.lacasadigiufa.it intranet: http://cata.lacasadigiufa.it Per accedere e vedere l’intranet prova/prova. C’è ancora molto lavoro da fare! Tradurre le guide MARC per gli inserimenti, adattare l’unimarc a sbn, stopword, capire bene i collegamenti marc nel database. Ci sono ancora alcuni script che non vanno e stiamo sperimentando. Perché in effetti Koha non è un programmino come tanti… E’ nostra intenzione inoltre attivare un link per gli utenti italiani di Koha come fatto in altri paesi. L’unica perplessità che ci trasciniamo è la concomitanta del nostro lavoro con il prossimo rilascio della vers. 3.0 Comunque P. Poulain ci ha assicurato che il 70 percento delle maschere npl potranno essere adottate anche nella 3.0. Abbiamo recuperato con kbabel il 50% delle descrizioni del default e stiamo lavorando a completare l’npl (l’opac è quasi pronto). Buon lavoro a tutti ______________________________ Notre bibliothèque, après un j'attends étude de faisabilité, il a décidé l'adoption de Koha quel ISGB pour le propre catalogue. Malheureusement les traductions en ligne, files--- default_it_IT.po a été effectué par un pas-bibliothécaire et ils réentegnent énormément de la carence. Nous avons si décidé de réaliser la traduction la plus conforme soit pour l'opac qui pour l'intranet. Il y a encore quelques scripts qu'ils ne vont pas et nous sommes en train d'expérimenter. Parce qu'en effets Koha n'est pas un software comme nombreux. Est notre intention en outre activer un link pour les utilisateurs italiens de Koha comme fait en autres pays. La perplexité unique que nous nous traînons c'est le concomitanta de notre travail avec le prochain relâchement du vers. 3.0 De toute façon P. Hi Axel, Welcome to the Koha community, and thanks for your interest in translating Koha into norwegian bokmål, we'd love to support your effort in any way possible. As you point out, there are several methods and sources for translating Koha. The majority of the work involves generating and translating a POT file for the interface (OPAC vs Staff) and the version of Koha that you're wanting to translate (2.2.8 vs 2.2.9 vs 3.0) and finally the template/theme (in 2.2 series, there are two public themes, default and npl). Translations of Koha between minor version releases don't have many changes, there would only be at most a few new strings or changes to strings. So a translation of 2.2.8 will _mostly_ work for 2.2.9. The purpose of translate.koha.org is to simplify the process of maintenance of the POT files. To be sure, it could use a bit more maintenance. We're currently lacking an official 'translation manager' for the Koha project, but I do my best in my spare time to verify and add translation requests to that site. So ... the first thing to do is consider what version of Koha you want to translate. If the 2.2.x version, you can add your translation to translate.koha.org, or generate a POT file from 2.2.9 and translate that. If for 3.0, the templates haven't been 100% signed off yet, so it'd be best to wait until that happens before spending too much time translating a POT file from that code base.
