Hi, I've changed some Javascript in acqui.simple/addbiblio.tmpl to improve the error checking. If you've got this page translated, please do a cvs update and check for changes in the "Check" function, or differences between your template and the English one. some images with text checked into CVS

Hi, [sorry if you've read this before; I sent it from the wrong account, and I don't think this went through.] I've put some xcf files in the Chinese (zh-TW) directories in CVS. If you are translating and are putting off translating the images, at least you don't need to erase the English words yourself :-) For these xcf files, I've kept the original English images for reference (regarding wording & font size) as the bottommost layer (or for a couple of them the 2nd-bottommost layer). call for testers

Now that we're closing in on our 2.0.0 release (maybe in February according to the 2.0 release manager), and we need to start looking to the future. One of the things we really want to focus on for the next release is a major rewrite/refactor. If we do this right, we can get Koha test-infected, and make the development run even more quickly than it already does. To really make this work, we're going to need to get a lot better at testing. I think there are two keys to this. First, I'd like to recruit someone to work as the testing manager. (I need to come up with a better title than 'manager' -- I'm afraid it scares people off.) Second, I'd love to find a couple more developers with some solid testing background, who are willing to volunteer their time on a cool FOSS project. The manager will need to be able to help outline unit and functional test suites, plan and run useability and acceptance tests, and coordinate with the 2.2 release manager to ensure that 2.2 is squeaky clean when it gets released. The developers should be solid Perl hackers who really grok testing. Being able to create tests from developer input, user input, system docs, and bug reports is going to be a key to making this process work correctly. xxx-top.inc : note for translators

The xxx-top.inc files that are in the /koha-tmpl/default/en/includes are composed of gif files, and are quite impossible to translate. That's why i've created new ones for the french translation of koha. Feel free to use them for your own translation. They are only text+css. Minor correction to Good News

Regula and Rosalie, our esteemed creators of the Librarian's section of the manual, had a really good idea for an additional section to the "Library IT Staff" part of the manual. However, if you're translating, please don't halt because of the impending change -- I'll make sure the new item is clearly labeled with SGML commenting, and will be a "drop in" addition.... the new material will be aimed at assisting a library IT staff member in talking to their librarian on the decisions that need to be made before starting an install/changeover, and the a little bit of info on some customization options easier done before an OPAC goes live. On the note of the Good News (and this minor correction).... I was hoping to hear from a few of you by now who were interested in access to the manual source. Hint hint. The news you've all been waiting for.... Those of you who have (Francisco Alonso and a few others come to mind!) graciously volunteered to help translate the *manual* (vs the application itself) into your language, I am now ready to help you out. The English manual handling the bridge for 1.2/1.3.x (with one exception, below) is in fair enough shape for translating. ----------------------- What I need: Those of you interested, please drop me an email so I can give you a login/password to the tool we'll be using to handle CVS access/etc for you. To save time, I'd appreciate you suggesting a (meaningful, like something related to your name) ID and password in your emails :). Those of you who have not yet worked with Docbook (the markup language used for the documentation) please *let me know* if you think you'll need assistance -- it looks a little and behaves a fair amount like HTML, so don't panic. You won't need to markup anything, I hope, merely translate what is between tags. If you are: A. C. Li, Kip, Regula, Rosa, Steve, or Paul you have accounts already. ----------------------- On that same note: If you are interested in working on languages that are *_not_ French/Spanish/German* I need to know about it. We've had questions, but not firm commitments, on other languages. If you're also interested in doing the application, we need to make arrangements for that. Tip: If you want to submit translations of Koha itself, and you don't have CVS access, you need to get in touch. ----------------------- What you'll be doing: The DocBook version of the manual* needs to be rendered into the various languages, and uploaded, and proofread (for typos/grammatical lapses). Steve has created a handy, web front end so that you can get access to the Docbook source and upload your versions fairly pain-free. This tool also generates HTML, PDF, *OK, You got me: At the moment the "for the librarian" section is being worked on. Everything else is essentially static in the English edition. If anything major changes besides those to that section happen after now, I will post notices. ----------------------- NOTE------People with CVS access, be aware that the uploader tool is the way to go for this, not just heaving things into CVS directly. Hi all, after having translated all the template files into polish I have managed to see them in a partially working Koha installation. Intranet pages do show up in the polish language, but the user opac cannot be forced to the polish version by way of systempreferences page. I hope the solution is somewhere there....:-) Benedict
